In this series you spend some quality time with your boyfriend. Basically all you do is cuddle, which makes this CD super cute. This is the third CD in the series, voiced by Hirakawa Daisuke.

Your boyfriend this time is Kousei, who is a writer. At the start of the CD you enter the room where he is working, to remind him of the fact that it is already late and that he should probably stop working. Kousei finishes what he was writing for a bit (a overly sweet passage that is obviously based on you), and realizing that you were lonely while he was working so hard,  you decide cuddle on a sofa on the veranda together.

The rest of the CD is a lot of cuddling, Kousei telling you how much he loves you, some kissing (which sounds surprisingly eroi, seems like the poor guy is having a hard time suppressing certain urges), and more Kousei telling you how precious you are to him.

You do discover a little about your relationship through all of this. Apparently you met while he was in a slump, and it is thanks to you that he recovered. It took a while before you started dating though. In the final track you have fallen asleep, and Kousei once again declares his love for you (as well as planning to do more than kissing once you wake up, fufu)

While the CD is mainly cute, there were some sentences that caught me completely off guard. Along with a lot of his kisses...


Conclusion:
Plot zero, cuteness 90%, embarrassment 10%. No really, the amount of overly sweet words and kisses are almost overkill. But if you are fine with that then this is a really cute CD that makes you want to cuddle the nearest available thing. Because of the overkill you should probably only listen if you either like the seiyuu or are looking for something caries-inducing sweet, because lets be honest, it really is nothing more than cuddling.

Toubousha ~Ryou Hen~

Toubousha is a CD in which a fugitive is on the run from someone. In the previous CDs someone would use you to get away, in this one you are the one being chased. The CD uses the dummy head mic for the entire length of the CD (and does so very effectively). As always there are two endings; a good and a bad one.

The CD starts with you getting of the Shinkansen at Shinagawa station. Immediately someone demands your bag and tries to take it from you. Iikura Ryou comes to your help, and urges you to go back into the shinkansen. He holds off your pursuers so the two of you can get away in the train.

Once inside he begins to explain that your bag probably got switched with the one those men were looking for. He seems to know more about the situation but doesn't explain much at the time. Meanwhile he occasionally gets calls on what sounds like a walky-talky, keeping him up to date with what is happening.

Once you arrive at Tokyo station he instructs you to go to the station office to hand over the bag and tell them your own is missing, but a few comrades of the people who harassed you before were apparently still on the train and come after you. One of them fires a gun, and panic and chaos ensues.

Ryou takes you through the ticket gates into the shopping area of the station, and finally properly introduces himself. He is an inspector currently working to catch the remaining members of a terrorist organisation that was disbanded not too long ago. Because this is the best chance they've had in ages he asks (almost threatens) you to cooperate in order to lure them out. He is nice enough to you while you walk around the station though.

However the terrorists are not entirely stupid, and set off fires at several entrances to cause chaos and prevent the officers in civilian that serve as backup from reaching you. You are cornered by the remaining members of the organisation and have no choice but to follow them.

Ryou whispers instructions to run away when you reach a flight of narrow emergency stairs, and you manage to get away, but due to the fires the fire prevention shutters are down and you can’t get out. You are once again cornered, and Ryou gets shot twice while trying to cover for you. While he urges you to stay behind him the backup arrives and the scene fades out. From here you can go to either to good or bad end.

In the bad end the terrorists get away, causing Ryou to confine you at his home. He is convinced that they will come after you, and seems obsessed with catching them so he intends to keep you close. At first I thought it was another yandere ending, which made me slightly excited, but it soon turns out that Ryou just went completely crazy, and is scary a hell.

In the good ending the terrorists are captured, and you visit Ryou in the hospital. While he seemed full of confidence on the job he is being adorably awkward now, not knowing what to talk about and mumbling a lot. In the epilogue you have just moved into his apartment after you’ve been dating for a while, and he is still being adorably awkward.

I know Hirakawa-san is good at playing characters that are insane, but even so the bad ending scared the hell out of me. As soon as I realized that he was not yandere but completely broken his bad ending became a nightmare. It was so bad that when Ryou mentions how warm you are in the good ending it made me shiver because he said something similar in the bad one. If you are going to listen to the bad ending, listen to that one first, that way you’ll at least have the super sweet good ending to heal the scars it will cause.

Part of Ryou his obsession with the terrorist organisation is due to the fact that his former room mate was a member, causing his colleagues to treat him like dirt. This is only hinted at in the bad ending and properly explained in the good ending. But you only discover this in the endings, and I think they could have used it a bit more to create some more suspicion during the story. The entire time you are with Ryou you have no real proof that he really is a police officer, and I personally think they could have made more use of that as well.

Despite these things, this CD was all I could have asked for as the (for now) last entry in this series; a seiyuu that I love, a bad ending that I will remember for years to come, and a good one that was super sweet. And after two stories that had less to do with running away this one was much more satisfying. I loved that they made you the one being chased this time, it made for a nice change. My love for Hirakawa-san obviously makes me biased, but I think that this is still a good CD if you are a fan of the series but not of the seiyuu.

Conclusion:

I am kind of sad that this is the last CD for now, but on the other hand they were clearly starting to run out of inspiration, and I’d rather have that the series ends with a good CD (because it is good) than that they release more CDs that fail to live up to the earlier ones. Just, be wary of the bad ending when you listen, ok?

And the series continuuuueeeees!

Aisaresugite xx Sarechau - Gekiama Joushi & Kichiku Joushi Comparison

I think this is the first time that I’ve actually made a comparison post about two linked CDs, but I noticed so many similarities and interesting links between the two that I felt like writing this. Spoilers, as far as you can call them that, all around so read at your own discretion.

愛されすぎて××されちゃう CD 激甘上司 &  鬼畜上司

Like I mentioned in the actual reviews, each Aisaresugite CD has two versions – a sweet one and a twisted one. You can compare them to the good and bad end routes in an otome game. The stories are partly the same, and split somewhere after you make a choice. With this being a CD, the choice is obviously being made for you ;)

For this CD the story splits depending on whether you choose to remain living with your boss-turned-boyfriend or insist on living separately.

But even before that they are not entirely the same. The Gekiama version starts with you catching a cold after a long day of work, and skips right to the time you went drinking together to celebrate your recovery. The Kichiku version one the other hand only references you catching a cold last week, and includes the actual invite to go drinking. His confession is slightly different as well; in the Kichiku version his voice almost breaks when saying that he loves you, while it is more subdued in the Gekiama version.

What I find interesting is that he promised to not do anything to you when you start living at his place – and he seems to have kept that promise in both versions. It is only after you’ve accepted his feelings, after he sees you as his own, that things start to get out of hand in the Kichiku version. And it is not like his possessive trait is entirely absent in the Gekiama version either. In the track where you have a fever he mentions that “he wouldn’t let you go even if you wanted to”.

Besides this there are other sentences that are used in both CDs “Omae ha ore dake wo mireba ii” (“you should/ only have to look at me”) and “Ore nashi de irarenai you ni” (“so that you can’t do without me”) for example. The difference is the context in which they are said; in the Gekiama version they add to the cuteness of the CD, and only make you love him more. In the Kichiku version they are said in a way that make you want to run away as fast as you can, and serve to illustrate how possessive (and insane) he is.

Another parallel can be found in the 3^rd track. In both versions he mentions that he never really trusted people, and never had any deeper bonds/relationship with anyone, but that he trusts you. In the Gekiama CD this is a sign of how much he trusts and loves you, in the Kichiku one it is followed by threatening to hurt you should you ever betray him. BUT in the Gekiama version he also says that he was covertly trying to keep other guys away from you. Which, once again, sounds sweet in the context of that particular CD, but when combined with the Kichiku one it gains a few implications.

The kouhai scene is obviously scene with the most similarities. It even starts the same in both CDs, although it gives a totally different vibe thanks to a different tone of voice. The part where you can hear him both through the phone and right next to you sound cute and happy in the Gekiama version, while you can already sense the tension in the Kichiku one.

Technically they follow exactly the same pattern. Your kouhai helping you with work results in your boss/boyfriend  being jealous, which results in sex at the office. And once again the Gekiama version turns this into a sweet scenario (making out in the office to express/prove his love in a more physical way) while the Kichiku version twists it (sex as punishment for “betrayal”). Both are pretty graphic btw.

There are two other things that caught my attention. While it may just have been pushed to the background in the Kichiku version, it was pretty interesting to see that you were slightly jealous in the Gekiama version as well. You call him out twice - the first time when you confront him about the rumours at the office, the second time when you want to know who else he took to his favourite hotel (no one btw, he used to go there on his own).

The second thing I noticed is the difference in the amount of H scenes. In the Gekiama version only the kouhai/sex at the office scene contains actual love making, along with the (un)appropriate squelchy sounds. The Kichiku version on the other hand you are treated to your first sex(ual abuse) scene in the fourth track, along with two extra scenes afterwards – both of them pretty abusive. Interestingly enough the Gekiama version is actually equally explicit, but lot more sensual.

Listening to both CDs shortly after each other, I can’t help but feel that they are tied together pretty good. Certain elements appear in both CDs, and there are traces of possessiveness even in the Gekiama CD, although you are less likely to notice them if you don’t listen to the other one first.

Precisely because of that reason I’d recommend listening to the Gekiama one first, otherwise certain sentences might trigger a rather traumatic déjà vu (at least for me that was what happened).

I hope you enjoyed my ramblings about these two CDs.

Aisaresugite xx Sarechau CD - Kichiku Joushi

Aisaresugite xx Sarechau is a CD series where you are ''loved too much by your'' boyfriend. There are two versions for each release – a sweet version and a more twisted version. Both versions start the same and have similar situations, but are slightly different. Vol.2 has Hirai Tatsuya (Hirakawa Daisuke) as your boss at work.

This version is titled Kichiku Joushi, which would mean something like Brutal Boss, as a Kichiku is someone who treats others in a cruel manner. So don’t expect another cute CD like the Gekiama version ;)

The start of the story is almost the same as the Gekiama version – one day you have to return to work in the evening because you forgot your phone, and meet your boss who is still working. You end up going out to drink together. While you are out drinking there is a fire your apartment building and because it is the middle of the night and you have nowhere else to go your boss offers you a spare room in his apartment.

You end up staying there for a while searching for your own place. When you've found one and tell him you will sign the contract soon he asks you whether you don’t want to stay at his place in stead and confesses his feeling for you (the way his voice almost breaks when he does is too precious).

In the this version you accept his feelings but tell him that you still want to live separately because you are worried about rumours at work, which triggers a jealousy switch in your now boyfriend. Unfortunately for you and fortunately for him, it seems there was a double booking and you are unable to get the new apartment, and end up staying at his place after all.

His jealousy behaviour continues; after finishing a deal with a customer he seems in a bad mood because  the customer was an old classmate of yours, and he is convinced that you were flirting with the guy. And thus you end up going straight to a hotel room where you have to be taught exactly who’s woman you are... and not in a gentle manner either

He orders you to strip, and makes it very clear that you shouldn’t try to disobey. He continues with what he is doing even though you are obviously afraid and crying.  Also introduction of the squelchy  sounds (>_<) ... He also appears to be carrying handcuffs with him. Well prepared indeed.

This time in the kouhai scene you didn’t mention that your kouhai had been helping you with overwork untill a few moments ago, and he discovers this (in fact, he ordered the guy to help you to test your loyalty). Obviously  „punishment“ ensues; he drags you into a meeting room and forces you to masturbate for him.

Not unexpectedly, you are upset about how you were treated, and tell him you want to leave his apartment the next day. But telling a yandere you want to leave is probably the worst thing you can do. I won’t be going into details but the next few scenes involve a photo album of when you were asleep or passed out after you slept together, a blindfold made out of the necktie you once gave him as a present, more squelchy sounds, and numerous implications that you will never be leaving this room again...

The first and second part of this CD are so different they could have been two different CDs. Which makes sense since this is basically the same story as the Gekiama version, except that things went very very wrong this time. He won’t go full yandere on you immediately (the first punishment scene has far less yandere vibes than the final scene for example) but the change in attitude is still pretty huge.

When mentioning that you want to move out we see the first glimpses of jealousy, and that this has the potential to escalate. Which it obviously does. While I do see the Kichiku (brutal) part at first (he is being incredibly rough and sadistic ) it switches into Yandere a little later. So much as looking at another guy or not mentioning someone was with you is considered betrayal, and is followed by sexual punishment, while he grows incredibly jealous and wants you “all to himself”. That room you were unable to get? That wasn't a coincidence.

Hirakawa-san has proved his skill in voicing yandere characters before, and lives up to that here. Honestly, that man can breathe in a way that is terrifying. It also reminded me that while he can sound adorable if he wants (the title call is the most adorable things ever), I really do love it when he uses his deeper voice. Even if the character happens to be a sadistic yandere.

Conclusion
Those who know me probably know that I love Yanderes and that I love Hirakawa-san, so obviously I am partial towards this CD. However it also reminded me that R18 is not really my thing. Especially if any H scenes are accompanied by gracious amounts of squelchy noises. I know the title says Kichiku, but if you ask me this is 95% Yandere.

While the Gekiama version really is a sweet CD that I can recommend to almost anyone (if you can stand R18, that is), this version should probably best be avoided if you don’t know what you are dealing with. It is definitely a bad CD to start with if you’re not familiar with either R18 or Yandere CDs, but if you like both; go for it!  So umm, yeah, listen at your own discretion ;)

At the start of the CD you nearly collapse from stress after working way too hard. However, your boss notices that you have a fever and sends you home. A few days later you go drinking together to celebrate you that recovered. While you are out drinking there is a fire at your apartment building and because it is the middle of the night and you have nowhere else to go he offers you a spare room in his apartment.

You end up staying there for a while searching for a new place. When you've found one and tell him you will sign the contract soon, he asks you whether you don’t want to stay at his place instead and confesses his feelings for you. In this version you accept and you start living together.

The rest of the CD are three scenes of your life together. The first is when you return from a meeting, and he takes you into a different meeting room so that you can report the details. And so that you can be alone of course. You confront him about his relationship with a colleague, but he tells you that those are just rumours, and tells you how much he loves and trusts you instead.

The second scene is on a business trip together. Because this is your first business trip you are too conscious about everything and end up getting a fever because of the stress. Luckily you have the sweetest boyfriend in the world to take care of you.

The last scene also appears in the Kichiku version; You were working overtime in the weekend, and a kouhai was helping you. Your kouhai has already left by the time your boyfriend arrives with lunch (and feeds it to you xD). He worries that the kouhai might like you, and grows slightly jealous. He ends up taking you into a meeting room, saying that it might be his fault for not showing how much he loves you enough, and you end up doing it right there.

On the taxi ride home he falls asleep on your shoulder, which is probably the most adorable moment in the entire CD.

This CD is sweet! The story may not be very original – due to circumstances you end up living together with someone and end up falling in love, with an added bonus of the guy already falling in love long before that. The CD pays more attention to the time afterwards though, and those scenes are super sweet.

The effect of the dummy head mic is most obvious when he is whispering something close to you, and I literally mean whispering. My biggest problem with the H scenes are the squelchy sounds. I don’t know whether it is false modesty or that they tend to distract me, they make me uneasy. Besides that the H is somewhat subdued, despite being fairly desciptive. And they eventually do fade out.

Conclusion:
Having listened to the Kichiku version first I never expected this CD to be this sweet. It feels like a completely different series. If you plan on listening to both it is probably best to listen to this one first, otherwise certain sentences might trigger flashbacks to the other version. Although I suppose there is something to be said for listening to this to heal any wounds the Kichiku version will might inflict.

If you’re not sure about listening to this one: give it a try, it is more sweet than anything else. You could always skip the H part if that really isn't your thing.

Hitorijime Series 01 - Byouin no Isshitsu de... Suo Kazutomo Hen

Hitorijime series is a series that features characters that love you so much that they feel the need to have you for themselves (hitorijime). This first CD features the doctor Suo Kazutomo (CV: Hirakawa Daisuke).

The CD starts with you visiting the hospital because you have sprained your ankle. Apparently you are a bit of a klutz, because regularly visit the hospital for some sort of a minor injury. Kazutomo worries about you injuring yourself even more, and decides that you need a "special medicine" and asks you to wait in the waiting room.

In the next scene you seem to have been moved to a special hospital room (or maybe this was the room Kazutomo brought you to in the first place?). He asks you how the room is. You are obviously confused, and he explains that this is the "special medicine" he was talking about: he has decided that you should stay here so that you don't hurt yourself any further. This way he will be able to "watch over you all the time".

The next few scenes are exactly that. Kazutomo makes you dinner (and attempts to feed you instead of letting you eat it yourself). He also wants to help you bathing, but because you refuse with all your might he agrees to letting you bathe by yourself. For this time.

(ps: Kazutomo sums up the different scents that you can put in the bathwater including some of famous onsen: Hakone, Kusatsu, Misasa. I laughed out loud when I heard that. That was my final laughter though, after that it turned even scarier).

When you try to escape at night you run into Kazutomo in the hallway and he brings you back to your room. He acts as if you just can't sleep and makes you warm milk and stays by your side until you fall asleep. Which seems nice, but he also brought restraints to tie you to bed "just in case they would be needed". You get away without being tied to the bed but it is heavily implied that if you try to get away again you will be tied up.

The next morning he wakes you up and checks your temperature and pulse (as well as your weight, by lifting you up). He also brought you new slippers and a new pyjama, along with new underwear. He says he had a shop assistant choose them for him because he doesn't know anything about these things, but that he will bring a laptop next time so that you can order underwear that you like online. By now every single alarm bell should be ringing as loud as it can...

To make things worse he tells you that he contacted your work, saying that you will be resigning because you need to be hospitalized. He also mentions that he did not contact your family, so that they don't need to worry and won't try to visit. He continues with saying that if anyone will try to find you here he will hide you somewhere else....

Hirakawa-san used a higher voice for Kazutomo than I expected. Seeing his character design I expected it to be more in the lower ranges of his voice, but instead it was fairly high. The kind of voice you'd expect for a soft spoken kind and caring doctor maybe, except that this one has some serious issues.

Judging by the title I expected this to be full on yandere but felt strangely... not yandere? Extremely overprotective seems to be more fitting. Kazutomo seems to be honestly convinced that he is helping you, and I can't tell whether he is really just being cynical with you at times or not. The fact that for the most part he remains polite and professional makes this all the more scary. All I could think while listening was "I need to get out of hereeeeee".

Hirakawa-san starts the free talk in almost the same tone as the final (exceptionally scary) sentence of the story. Luckily he changes to his usual cute self after that. He says that despite having been in a lot of different CDs, he was surprised that there was still a genre like this xD He is also playing around with the dummy head mic during the talk, which just adds to the cuteness.


Conclusion:
This was a little different from what I expected, less sweet and far more scary. After all of the cuter things released by Gakken I thought this series wouldn't be as extreme, but this definitely proved me wrong. And Hirakawa-san once again proves that he is good at voicing extremely scary characters. The CD was very good in it's own way, but don't listen to this if you want to listen to something sweet.

Ai no Poem tsuki Kotoba-seme Vol.3

The Ai no Poem tsuki Kotoba-seme series is pretty much what it says on the tin: A CD that 'attacks' you with words, which also has a poem about love included. And by attacking I mean aiming directly at your heart and making you go dokidoki in a lot of ways. Vol.3 is voiced by Hirakawa Daisuke.

The story begins with with the heroine (you- the listener) entering a cafe. You were lost and entered the cafe to shelter from the rain, but purely by coincidence it happens to be run by a senpai who you know from the literary club at high school. While talking with him you suddenly confess that you always liked him, and he asks you whether you have a boyfriend now. You start crying because you were just dumped, and to cheer you up he reads you a story that you wrote for his farewell album at high school.

Which is where we switch to a different story: that of the 'kisoku tantei Cranberry no oshioki jikenbo". In other words "Aristocrat Detective Cranberry his Punishment Case Files". I tried my best not to laugh at the title but I failed. This title amuses me so much.

But back to the story. Detective Cranberry apprehends a girl who he thinks is the thief 'Kurogitsune' (the black fox), but it turns out she is just a normal girl. In fact, she was just on her way to his house because she was sent there by a family member to learn proper manners. Cranberry takes her home, apologising that they will be spending the night alone because he sent everyone away after receiving a note from Kurogitsune saying that she will steal one of his prized jewels.

Once in the house his politeness quickly turns into flirting, he even tells you that he is planning to take all night to make you fall for him. After you return from taking a bath and pour him some tea he turns his words into actions. He first orders you to lick his feet, but when you refuse because "you don't know how" he simply shows you how by doing it to you. He continues by saying that he is "not only good with his mouth", but it soon turns out that he only meant that he is good at dancing.

While dancing he confesses that while he said that he would make you fall for him, he has actually fallen for you and kisses you. Soon after however he collapses because you actually are Kurogitsune, and you drugged his tea.

When he wakes up he is bound in chains are you are whipping him. I seriously thought my fangirl heart would not be able to handle this part. Hirakawa-san playing a do-S character that was bound in chains and still unbelievably sexy. I... I can't....*cough* but back to the story. While chained he convinces you that he loves you, and asks you to release him so that you can marry. When you do this you are rewarded for this by being chained by him instead. And some very very nice kissing. And they lived happily ever after...?

Back in the cafe your senpai teases you when you say that the story you wrote wasn't that eroi. Then he accidentally makes you remember that you were dumped and you start crying again. Which is when he can't hold back anymore and kisses you, saying that he always liked you too. And so we get to hear some more lovely smooching and you live happily ever after as a happy couple (for real this time).

This CD caught me completely by surprise. Yes of course it is titled 'kotoba-seme' but I didn't think it would be this...this... sexy. In the cafe parts Hirakawa-san is voicing a super sweet senpai, while he uses a much lower voice as Cranberry. Their personalities are also the complete opposite. The senpai character is super sweet and almost hetare, while the other is a do-S aristocrat (and my preference is once again worrisome). And some of the things he says. You'd think I would be able to handle more after listening to certain other series, but this CD had me burying my head in my pillow to suppress all the giggles and fangirl screams.

I'm less positive about the poem. It sort of feels...random. Maybe if I try really hard I would be able to link it to the story in some way, but for now I am failing. Then again, I never have been good at understanding poems, so maybe I am the one at fault here.


Conclusion:
For some reason I didn't really expect much of this CD but it proved me wrong in every way. I've listened to two of the other CDs in the series and I can say that this was by far the most effective one, although that might have something to do with my bias for Hirakawa-san.

Navikare！ ~Watashi wo Mukae ni kite~

ナビカレ！　～わたしをむかえにきて～

In Navikare your boyfriend comes to pick you up and you go home together by train. On the way back you talk a bit together about random things and the sights outside. In this CD both boyfriends are voiced by Hirakawa Daisuke, and you go home after an event in Odaiba *cough*Comiket*cough* taking the Yurikamome line to Shinbashi.

(side note: I didn't know that the different stations had famous voice actors doing the announcements. Next time I am in Tokyo I am definitely riding this just because of that.)

The first boyfriend is very sweet. He is all excited about going back together, happily chatting away about all the things you see outside. He says he wants to go to odaiba on a date some time, and is almost planning out the entire date on the spot. The best moment in his part is when he mentions that he went to look around a bit on the event site and bought a manga from a series that you loved. You ask him whether he actually looked at the content he starts to read, and judging by his reactions it is BL xD

The second boyfriend is more tsundere, and this time you are to one who wants to go on an odaiba date, and he reluctantly agrees to going to several places. He constantly hints that he wants to be with you forever, but then covers it up by saying it was nothing when you didn't hear him (d'awww). This time references to the event are made again as well. You are talking a bit about cosplay, and he first says that he doesn't want you to do that ("because other guys will look at you as well") but starts to give in when you say you might do a maid character xD

You are on a train, and the background sounds perfectly reflect that. On each station an announcer (CV: Kawakami Takafumi (male) Futami Chiori (female), says which station you are at, and the standard talk that the doors open and close etc, just like in real life. If you aren't used to this it might be distracting at first, but you'll get used to it soon enough. You also hear people get on and off the train and hear them talking in the background, although one of the sound effect (a woman sounding surprised) is used a bit too often and it gets a bit annoying.

The tracks are divided by station, but you don't notice when they switch and story continues seamlessly. Most of the time the only background noise are the sounds of the train, the announcer, and the other people, but on a few special moments a BGM suddenly starts playing - creating an in-their-own-world-atmosphere.

Several (if not all) of odaiba's famous landmarks are referenced in this CD: The Ferris wheel, Rainbow Bridge, Oedo Onsen, the Statue of Liberty replica, and so on and so forth. It would be interesting to listen to this while actually riding the Yurikamome, just to see whether it is accurate in terms of how long it takes to get to the next station and what you see.

I have the event version of the CD, although the only difference with the retail version is the freetalk if I'm not mistaken. The freetalk for the event version starts with Hirakawa-san acting too cute. Honestly, why is this man so adorable.


Conclusion:
This was very cute and fun to listen to. Both boyfriends are very different, and personally I prefer the second one, but they both have their charm points. I really really really want to ride the Yurikamome while listening to this just to see whether it is accurate. That, and I want to hear the announcements at the different stations - I think I might start acting strange when I hear announcements done by Shimono Hiro or Toriumi Kousuke though.

Diabolik Lovers Versus 2 - Subaru VS Raito

Diabolik Lovers is a series that leaves you at the mercy of sadistic vampires. The project features drama CD's, radio broadcasts on NicoNico Live, and a PSP game by Otomate. The drama CD's are the first to be released together with the radio broadcasts. Originally there were just 6 drama CDs announced, but Rejet managed to squeeze in 3 more CD releases before the game: Diabolik Lovers Versus, where you are left in the hands of two vampires at the same time.

The second CD has Subaru (CV: Kondo Takashi) and Raito (CV: Hirakawa Daisuke). The CD starts with Raito chasing the heroine/listener, who is finally cornered in the torture chamber (why does the Sakamaki household even have such a thing). You decide to give up, but just as Raito intends to have his way with you it turns out that you are sitting on top of a coffin - and that Subaru was sleeping in said coffin. Annoyed by Raito his provocation Subaru opens the coffin (and launches you into the air). After some more provocations Subaru hits the wall, causing the entrance to collapse, leaving the three of you locked inside.

Raito decides that you should make the best of the situation, and fully intends to continue with what he was doing. He invites Subaru to join him, but Subaru refuses. Not that it really matters to Raito, he just starts 'playing' with you anyway. He finds some chains with a collar attached to them nearby and puts those around your neck. As you don't immediately do what he wants he starts to choke you with them, while biting you in several places.

This has his intended effect on Subaru: he manages to provoke Subaru into showing him how he handles you. While Subaru finds the chains annoying, he doesn't immediately remove them. Instead he 'cleans' your body first by biting everywhere Raito bit you before.

Of course all of this excites Raito even more (looks like watching or being watched is his thing...) and he takes over again, pinning you down on top of Subaru and continuing things there, Although his turn ends fairly quickly to give Subaru a second chance, after which they simply decide to have 3P anyway. The CD fades out with them saying that it might take a while before you will be rescued, obviously hinting at the fact that they will continue what they are doing until you are.

Compared to the first Versus CD this was much more subdued; I actually managed to fall asleep while listening to this (twice). Neither the first nor the third CD allowed me to fall asleep. I believe that the juxtaposition here is Raito only being interested in you because of lust, and Subaru actually showing romantic interest as well. (Ok, there is very little romance, but compared to any of the other brothers Subaru actually does show some romantic interest, which is tons more than any of the others do).

This might be my imagination, but Subaru sounds a lot more aggressive than in his own CD. Raito also didn't get this excited in his own CD, although I am not really complaining there.

After what Ayato did to you in the first CD I expected Raito to go completely over the top with the ero, but not at all. Yes he still does some rather... perverted stuff to you, but he's being less verbal about in than Ayato was. The choking in the beginning aside, both of them are being surprisingly gentle with you. Subaru from the start, and Raito is making a point out of it the second time.


Conclusion:
Out of the three Versus CDs this was the most tame one. There is still a lot going on, but the characters act and talk much calmer, and seem to be hurting you a lot less as well (aside from the choking incident). I never expected this, I'd have thought that Subaru would nearly break down the house and that Raito would be even more straight forward ero instead of getting his kicks out of being watched. Can't decide whether the direction they took instead is a good or bad thing though.

Chou Sekkingata Sasayaki Micchaku CD 3 ~Bartender Kutsuki Mitsuru no Cocktail Recipe

Sasayaki Micchiaku is a series based on stories of being really close to someone (physically). In the third CD the bartender Kutsuki Mitsuru (CV: Hirakawa Daisuke) tells you different stories every time you visit his bar. These stories are recorded with the dummy head mic to really give an impression of 'being close'.


The story begins with Mitsuru just about to open the bar. He sees you looking around with a little map in your hands and offers to help you. Turns out you were looking for the place where he works. Once inside there is a little confusion, because you actually wanted to visit the place during the day, when it is a normal cafe. As an apology Mitsuru offers to make you a non-alcoholic cocktail (because you don't drink any alcohol) and tells you a story about a regular customer. After this you become a regular customer as well, and each time you visit Mitsuru tells you a story.

The first one is about a pair of childhood friends. The girl needs her picture taken for her CV, and her childhood friend just happens to be a professional photographer. He teases her a lot about how she used to cry when she was little and that she is a bit of a tomboy. After fixing her make-up for the picture he realizes that she really is cute though, saying that "if she doesn't find anyone he'll look after her forever". After they started dating she apparently took him to the bar to introduce him to Mitsuru, which is how he knows the story.

The second story is about a couple that just got married, and how they started to date. In high school they were both in the library committee, and one day they need to finish putting back some books together after school time. About every single cliché that you can think of in this setting is used, but I liked that the guy -who originally acts very cool- ends up being completely flustered.

The third time you visit it is raining cats and dogs, so Mitsuru is very surprised that you came. This time the story Mitsuru tells you is from the sengoku period. A princess that is about to be engaged to a warlord is taking one last horseback ride together with a soldier that she is close with. The two of them obviously have feelings for each other, yet they decide to do the right thing and she marries just as planned. Out of all the stories in the series, this is the only one that doesn't have a happy ending.

This story gets you down, and because it doesn't look like anyone else is coming you decide to drink together. At the end of the evening Mitsuru brings you to the station, sharing an umbrella. Somewhere halfway you trip and the heel of one of your shoes breaks off, so he ends up carrying you to the station. On the way he tells you about how his previous girlfriend left him. (Ok, so technically he went to America and didn't contact her, and when he came back she had married his best friend). At the end he confesses that you are more than just a customer and that he likes you.

To begin with Mitsuru is voiced by Hirakawa-san so I was fangirling through most of this. That said, I think they could have made slightly better use of his voice range. He uses neither his 100% hetare voice nor his really deep voice, while this CD would have been an excellent excuse to make him do as many different types as possible.

Just like Vol.2 this is more of a love story on it's own, with several different stories told in between. I'm not sure which format I prefer, although that might also have to do with the fact that the DJ personality from the first CD was really funny.

Hirakawa-san his free talk is somehow really cute. Apparently he starts the freetalk sitting if front of the mic on a chair, after that he starts moving around. He talks a bit about how he had a chance to experience what it is like to be a bartender, and that it is really hard work. When ask what he wants to cling to (micchaku suru) he answers that he wants to bury his face in a pillow and sleep. As for a 'micchaku' experience: just a few days before the recording he wanted to heat up some rice for dinner in the microwave, but somehow messed up so the rice was all sticky and squashed together and he couldn't eat it (this part was really too adorable). Hirakawa-san is the only one who doesn't answer that he would make something eroi if he were to produce a 'micchaku' drama: He wants to make something either with animals or that you are a piece of clothing being worn by someone xD

In the secret track Mitsuru wants you to test a new cocktail that he made. He secretly put in some alcohol, hoping that he could get you used to alcohol so that he could make you even better cocktails. Interesting enough, you seem to have some sort of a might-be-dating might-not-be-dating situation going on. Although Mitsuru is very straightforward about his own feelings.


Conclusion:
I am biased towards Hirakawa-san so of course I liked this. Yet somehow Vol.1 was still the most interesting one. I don't think anyone will ever be able to top Chakumitsu his personality. I'm curious about what kind of stories they will use next time though, because I can only think of so many situations to use...

Special: Favourite Seiyuu

As requested by someone in the comments  a long time ago, here is a small write up on my favourite seiyuu. My preferences are probably quite personal, and often the only argument is "I just love his voice". Really, I don't think I have any sane arguments to defend any of my choices. But that doesn't stop me from loving them.

I'm just writing this list based on who's voice I love. Despite listening to a lot of drama CDs and being a seiyuu fan in that sense, I seldom actually look for info on seiyuu or watch events. In fact I actively try to avoid seeing pictures of them because if I know how they look that starts to clash with the character image in my mind. So I can't really say much about their personality and things like that. I know some people are also fan of certain seiyuu (or actors for that matter) because of who they are, I just love them for their voice or acting skills.

(I'm really sorry if this is all very boring and stuff, but I promised I would write this so I wanted to make a proper post out of it)


1. Sakurai Takahiro
Sakurai has been at the top of my list for years now, with the one and only argument that I simply love his voice. The cause for my incredible Sakurai bias is one series and one series only: Are you Alice?. Sakurai = Alice (and vice versa) in my head. My love of his voice has reached the point where I still want to see Twilight in Japanese just because he voiced Edward. (I'm... not much of a Twilight fan in case you didn't know).

If we are not talking about drama CD my favourite Sakurai roles are probably Asbel Lhant (Tales of Graces), Clause Faustus (Kuroshitsuji), and the Medicine Seller (Mononoke), though I tend to go into fangirl mode as soon as I hear his voice.

Favourite drama CDs: everything Are you Alice (but especially the tokuten or anything where Alice acts out of character), Anata ga Ofuro de Noboseru CD Vol.1 Kusatsu, Fujoshi no Totsugikata / Fujoshi no Mikata, Fushihi Koubou Vol.3.



2. Hirakawa Daisuke
Second one without a valid argument. Hirakawa-san has a pretty interesting voice range, and I love both ends of it. When he plays hetare or clumsy characters, they are just so adorable that I cannot bring myself to dislike them no matter how clumsy they are. I prefer him using the lower ends of his range though, but sadly I don't know many examples. At either rate, I love it when he voices (slightly) dangerous characters.

I think I first really noticed him as Ace from Heart no Kuni no Alice, but what really sparked my fandom was Yandere Heavon vol.2. His yandere performance is -if you ask me- one of the best in the series, and the reason why I secretly keep hoping that almost every character he now voices has a hidden side... Going through his list of anime roles, I think I have literally seen none of the anime in which he voices a major role. So my love is solely based on what I mentioned above, haha.

Speaking of wanting to see Japanese dubs of movies; Hirakawa-san is the voice over for Orlando Bloom, and watching the Lord of the Rings or Pirates of the Caribbean in Japanese is also still on my to do list.

While I said that I only like seiyuu's for their voice and know little about their personality, I do love how polite and gentle Hirakawa-san always sounds in cast talks and interviews.

Favourite drama CDs:  Shuukan Soine Vol.1, Yandere Heaven Vol.2, Hougen Renai Vol.3, Anata ga Ofuro de Noboseru Vol.3 Misasa, Double Score ~Narcissus~, and his story in Kannou Mukashi Banashi Vol.6.



3. Okiayu Ryoutarou
I think that Okiayu-san was the first time I actually became fan of a seiyuu (before that I would like certain characters, but not specifically their seiyuu). This bias developed out of a character crush: Tezuka Kunimitsu from Tennis no Oujisama. Okiayu-san is one of the few seiyuu who's singing voice I also like, and I have several of his singles and albums (most of them are from Tennis no Oujisama xD). After I stopped watching the show the crush slowly died out though, but at some point I re-discovered him. By this time my Sakurai bias was already formed, so he is no longer at the top of my list anymore, but still a long time favourite.

When we're not talking about drama CD's, my favourite Okiayu characters are Tezuka Kunimitsu (obviously),  Dark (D.N.Angel), Gaius (Tales of Xillia. So I am really really really excited that he becomes a playable character in Xillia 2).

Favourite drama CDs: Shimekiri CD, O.To.Na Gentei Otogame CD Vol.2, Oujisama (warai) series. While not technically a drama CD, the drama part from Sasayaka na Kono Negai is absolutely brilliant.


4. Koyasu Takehito
Probably the only seiyuu who's voice I can recognise with 100% accuracy even if he speaks only one line. (although there has been one incident where I  failed to recognise him). Despite not being my favourite seiyuu ever, I have a habit of calling him "Koyasu-sama".

Despite the fact that he is often cast for characters with a cold and distant personality I love him more when he does sarcastic or comical roles. Especially if you can combine those two.

 The first time I fell in love with his voice is probably when I was paying Tokimemo, where he voices your teacher, Himoru Reichi. Despite originally going after another character his voice won me over and I started going after Himuro halway through the game. When on another character his route it always hurt like hell when I had to reject his invitations (T-T).

I originally played Tales of the Abyss in English, so I first discovered that he voiced Jade when I watched the anime, but that role is basically my ideal role for Koyasu-sama. In Hakushaku no Yousei his role is far more comical, and I spent most of Persona -Trinity Soul- fangirling over Ryou because he was voiced by Koyasu-sama.

Favourite non-drama CD roles: Himoru Reiichi (Tokimemo Girls side), Jade (Tales of the Abyss), Julius (Heart no Kuni no Alice), Kelpie (Hakushaku to Yousei), Kanzato Ryou (Persona -Trinity Soul). His voice completely mismatches Aokiji (One Piece) his image in my mind, so I actually dislike the character because of that.

Favourite drama CDs: Are you Alice - Alice no Tea Party Vol.3 (I cannot express my love for this CD in words), Heartful Kareshi series (he voices a dove). Unfortunately he doesn't appear in that many drama CDs, but I am definitely going to track down more of them.



Honourable Mentions:
Fukuyama Jun and Takemoto Eiji. While I don't particularly like (or dislike) their voices, I've heard these two voice so many different types of characters that I just can't help but admire their skills.

For Fukuyama Jun it was the difference between Shimizu Keiichi and Lelouch Laperouge that first made me aware of this. Shimizu was the first character that I associated with Fukuyama, which is why that image is stuck in my head. After doing some research I discovered that I heard him in countless roles, without even recognising him. This video shows a some of those, although it is a lot easier to recognise when they are all put together. Lately I've been getting better at recognising his voice, although I often only recognise it but fail to pinpoint who it is.

As for Takemoto Eiji, just listening to the Oujisama (warai) series gives you an impression of all the different characters he can voice (he voices almost every side character in the series, this has also become somewhat of a running gag in the series).




After listing my favourite, I suppose it is only fair that I list my least favourite ones as well, although there are only two of them, and I think that they are quite obvious from various reviews that I have done (^-^;;)

Ishida Akira in situation CDs / otome games. I don't know why, but I cannot bring myself to like Ishida-san when he voices a boyfriend role. That being said, he can voice very convincing shota's, and I have less problems whenever he voices a normal role in any anime or game. It is just that I don't like boyfriend!Ishida...

Yoshino Hiroyuki whenever he uses that gyaruo/bratty voice, which is most of the time. He actually has a rather nice voice if he talks in a more serious tone, but unfortunately he is usually type cast for the former. My disappointment when I discovered that he voiced Debito in Arcana Famiglia was unending (although it is actually one of the more reasonable examples).

Double Score is an upcoming series of otome games where every obtainable character is between 29 and 46 (the heroine is 17). The concept of the game is that "age doesn't matter when it comes to love". Before the games are released however, each character gets a situation CD.This is the CD for Saiga Rui and Seiya, both voiced by Hirakawa Daisuke.

Rui and Seiya each have their own story, which means that both of them are pretty short compared to the other ones. Rui is a teacher at the heroine her school, and Seiya is a host. Both of them seem interesting so I'm kind of sad that they don't get their own CD. Then again I still wouldn't be surprised if the whole plot twist in their story is that they are the same person after all. (But I hope not).　But untill any evidence pops up I will treat them as two different characters.

Rui his story takes place at school. He is walking towards the library to bring back a book when he sees Sano Fumiya (CV: Kusao Takeshi). Rui tries to scold him for abandonning his post, but Sano says he is just buying a drink from a vending machine (although he apparently went missing for 3hours with that excuse once). Sano tries to ask Rui for some details about his relationship with you, but Rui keeps saying that the school isn't the place to discuss things like that - and then tells him all sorts of things anyway.

When he finally gets to the library he is surprised to find you there. You are helping out with returning books to the shelves, and there are quite a lot left so Rui offers to help you. In the beginning he keeps saying that you can't act like lovers at school, but in the end he is the one who can't hold back and kisses you. He hands you a key to his appartment and asks you to wait for him there.

What I loved most is that while Rui is a hetare he doesn't seem to be completely without backbone. When Sano is teasing him he says that it is way to early for Sano to tease him, and when Sano continues he actually plants an elbow in his stomach. Twice (probably the most brilliant moment in their conversation).

Seiya his story begins with him meeting Sano on his way home (they apparently live in the same building). Sano also tries to tease Seiya but it doesn't really work (although strangely, it feels like Sano has the upper hand this time). Apparently Sano likes the food at the host club where Seiya works, so he tells Seiya that you were together with a guy when you left school in echange for free food. Seiya gets supprisingly jealous over this. The guy in question is Mori Kengo btw, a classmate and friend of the heroine and a side character in the games.

When he gets home you were waiting for him at the entrance. Seiya first teases you a bit -ok, a lot- before he demands to know who you went home with and what you were doing. Really demands by the way, he seems quite possessive. What followed was suprisingly the cutest moment in the entire CD though: he confesses that he is actually pretty scareed that you will leave him for someone your own age.

Considering the fact that he works as a host Seiya is actually suprisingly... serious? From the conversations in the CD it is clear that he went to meet your parents, and that he is seriously planning to marry you (although he hasn't proposed yet). Also the moment where is tells you that he is afraid you might leave him, and how distraught he sounds when he does are somehow so endearing.

As always the first press comes with a bonus track (or in this case two) where the characters answer a few questions. Rui his track is really cute, to the point where he literally hides his face when he reaches the question about what kind of underwear he prefers his girlfriend to wear. I expected Seiya to answer that question straight on, but suprisingly even he doesn't feel like answering at first. Though he finally answers it that "it should cover as little as possible" but that it doesn't really matter because he will be taking it off anyway.


Conclusion:
While the stories are a bit short because we have two characters this time, but they were both interesting. Despite me loving Hirakawa-san his voice most when he uses a deeper voice, I think I might actually like Rui more. While Seiya is a full do-S, Rui seems to be hiding several of those traits beneath his hetare mask, and that might just be the more interesting personality.

iPhone App: Noboseru Schedule ~Misasa~

A little while ago an android app appeared for the Anata ga Ofuro de Noboseru CD series. By now it has been ported to iOS as well so you can play around with it on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. Moreover, they now also released apps for Noboribetsu and Misasa, and I got the Misasa (CV: Hirakawa Daisuke) one to review.

 If you start the app you are taken to your room, and Misasa (or whichever character you got the app for) will be standing there. The room slightly changes depending on what time of day it is. You can poke the character to get some reactions, although they are limited in the beginning. You'll have to use the app more often to raise affection and get more reactions. You can see the level of affection in the top left of the screen. By the way, the character will react no matter where you touch the screen.

The second option from the left is the calender. Everything that is in your normal iphone calender will show up here (and visa versa) which is a great bonus if you ask me. If you touch the little plus in the upper right you can add an event just like in your normal calender. If you link the app to your twitter you can also tweet about what you have in your calender. It also has a function where it automatically adds the release date of new CDs in the series to your calender.




The middle option is the alarm function. You can set different alarms. There are only 3 different voice options (wake up, reminder, and good night). No idea whether you unlock ore ones if you raise the affection, but it doesn't look like it. I currently have a wake up and good night alarm set.

To set an alarm, click one one of the alarm slots and you'll be taken to the screen on the left. There you can select on which days the alarm should be repeated (it starts with Sunday, and then the rest of the days of the week). Just tab the buttons to turn them on or off. Below that you can select which message should be played, and below that you can select the time using the two reels. Just remember that you won't be able to hear the alarm if your phone is on manner mode/ mute.





The fourth option is the help option, it explains the entire app. In Japanese of course. The final option are the settings. The top one just displays the name of the character, but there is nothing that you can select there. The second one is a voice on / off option. You can enter your birthday in the third one, so I'm guessing the character will do something special on that day. The forth one is the information on /off option. Turn it on and the app will automatically add release dates of the other CDs and other apps from the company to your calender.

Then fifth one gives some basic info on the app, the sixth one links you to the EM2 official site, the seventh one to the app official site, and with the final option you can submit a review. Judging from the app site, it looks like they will eventually release apps for the other CD's as well.



This is the first schedule app like this that I got that actually synchronises with my normal agenda, and to me that is a MAJOR bonus point. I use the Bisei Hisho (Okiayu Ryoutarou version) as well, but that doesn't synch with my normal calender (with synchs with my laptop) and I don't feel like adding everything twice so in the end I only use that one as an alarm clock (not that I have complaints about being woken by Okiayu Ryoutarou). But with this calender properly synching, I feel like I will actually be using the calender function.

I'm kind of sad that the alarm option only has three different voices, but I'm just spoiled by the Bisei Hisho app, which has a bazillion options. On a brighter side, all three of them are incredibly cute. As are the sounds that Misasa makes when you poke him (or the room behind him). I haven't been able to raise his affection yet, so I'm curious to what other reactions he has.

The app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPad, and requires iOS 4.0 or later. It costs \350 / $3.99 / €2,99. Conclusion:
I'm really happy that it synchs with my normal calender. The reactions when you poke the character are a bit limited though. On the other hand, you can have one of your favourite seiyuu wake you up in the morning and wish you good night. That is worth something.

(I now have both Okiayu Ryoutarou and Hirakawa Daisuke talking to me in the morning. I am one happy girl).

Otenki Sentai How Weather

Otenki Sentai How Weather is a sentai parody in which all characters are based on different sorts of weather. On the good side we have Hare (clear weather), Ame (rain), Yuki (snow), Kumori (clouded), and Rai (lightning). Together they form the group "How Weather" and fight the evil organization Chuuihou (wheather warning). The entire organisation is actually only three people though: Hyou and Arare (hail) and Taifuu (typhoon).

In the first track the narrator explains that "How weather" is a telivision program aired on sunday morning, and that we should see how everyone is doing. Eacht track is dedicated to one of the characters, and one to Chuuihou. Don't expect any real sentai action though, instead the tracks are about the daily lives of all of the characters.

And the characters are what makes this CD brilliant. Hare (CV: Sakurai Takahiro) is a lovable egoistic hero. In his track he caught a cold (because he slept with only his underwear on in the middle of the winter) and no-one really wants to help him because they think he deserved it. Rai (CV: Terashima Takuma) like an impulsive kid. He works part time at a family restaurant, and his adventure is all about him not liking curry and running away from home.

Ame (CV: Toriumi Kousuke) is a major narcissist, and seems to enjoy getting scolded for some reason. His episode is all about, well, him being a narcissist. Kumori (CV: Suwabe Junichi) is a complete otaku, and is always busy playing online games (his latest being Final Dragon Fantasy Quest Online). He is usually muttering complaints in the background, but in his own track he is making entire monologues out of it. His story is about meeting someone from an online game in real life.

Yuki (CV: Hirakawa Daisuke) is like the mother of the family and usually act like housewife. He is usually sweet, but when he gets annoyed his personality switches completely. He is tends to make more severe remarks against Ame. Yuki is bloodrelated to Hyou and Arare, which is the reason why everyone is so friendly with each other. In his story there is a time sale in the supermarket, and absolutely nothing will get in the way of him going there. Not even a properly scheduled battle with Chuuihou.

In Chuuihou their story all of them go to a family restaurant for dinner (the one where Rai works). Hyou and Arare (CV: Toyonaga Toshiyuki & Ichiki Mitsuhiro) act like a bunch of high school girls worrying about stuff like diets, while Taifuu (CV: Ookawa Tohru) is as weak to their manipulation as ever.

As you can see, there is no actual action going on what so ever, the narrator even comments on this at the end. While they are supposed to be fighting everyone is getting along just fine. Taifuu even writes an overly polite letter to announce that they are coming when they do come to fight, and brings proper gifts when visiting. All of the characters are interestingly quirky, and the result is a lovable chaos.  I expected Hirakawa-san to act like a housewife based on his character description, but I didn't expect the switch to a more S side when annoyed, nor the voice drop accompanying it so that made for a nice surprise and a happy me.

There is a secret freetalk track, in which everyone talks about the CD and something to do with the weather, as well as their hopes for future installments in the series. Everything is going pretty normal untill Ichiki-san his turn, by which thime the rest is laughing so hard that he can't get on with his talk. He also does a final bai-bai, after which the recording simply continues ( ´艸｀)ﾑﾌﾟﾌﾟ


Conclusion
I'm not entirely sure my enthusiasm for this series is showing in this review. BUT I LOVE IT. From how it fails to be a proper sentai story to all of the characters, to the seiyuu and everything in between. I picked this up because there is a new CD (vol.4) coming soon, but this together with re-listening Hero Academy-J just might have sparked a new love for sentai parodies.
