Weekly News Post *update*

The news post is only half done, and there is at least one other project that I really really really want to write something about, but life is getting in the way. I'll update this post later this evening or sunday morning.

Added the news about 'Hikari'.

Bokutachi Otoko no Ko
No news on new release yet, but the official site has been renewed and has a completely new look. And if they are going to the trouble of renewing the site, I am guessing there will be a new release sometime soon.

Double Score
Blue Moon will be at the Animate Girls Festival 2012 selling Double Score and Unending Bloody Call goods. If you spend over 3000yen on buying goods you get the Double Score ~Forest?~ CD, which is a situation CD featuring the sub-character Mori Kengo (CV: Kimura Ryouhei). The entire CD is recorded with the dummy head mic, and has a story about Kengo and the heroine (his girlfriend, meaning you) in his room.

10nen Hatsukoi
The official site hasn't been updated yet, but according to 2chan 10nen Hatsukoi vol.2 is planned for a 2012.11.30 release. This time the characters will be Niida Kouhei (CV: Takahiro) and Iwakiri Satoshi (???, CV: Namikawa Daisuke).

Girigiri Out!?
Apparently Yoshino Hiroyuki has been hosting a radio show called "girigiri out!?" which deals with topics that are slightly ("girigiri") over the line. I have never heard the show, but the tag lines are "is it OK to say something like that!?" and "is that even OK!?". Based on this show they are releasing a date CD.

The CD will have drama parts and talk parts that comment on them. The drama parts will be based on the ideals of the listener, and at the moment you can submit your answer to several topics on the official site. The topics are "your ideal way to be picked up before your date" "the ideal thing to do on a date", "the ideal dinner", and "the ideal end of a date". It seems that they will create scenarios based on what the listeners submit.

The full title is 「ギリギリアウト!?」的デートCD ~吉野裕行、1人で12人演じます~ ("girigiri out!?"teki na deeto CD~yoshino hiroyuki, hitori de 12nin enjimasu~, a "girigiri ou?!" like date CD ~Yoshino Hiroyuki playing twelve people by himself~) so it looks like Yoshino-san will be acting out 12 different characters. Dispite my usual dislike of his voice, that alone already makes this an interesting concept. The CD is planned for a 2013.01.23 release.

Shinsengumi Mokuhiroku Wasurenagusa
The third and final sample track for wasurenagusa 3 is up. Seems like Kondo will be bringing his love for swords into the bedroom as well. The first CD was fairly normal, in the second CD  things get weirder, and now they bring a sword into play. I fear for the later entries in the series.

Hikari
This is a bit of a strange -but interesting- concept. Hikari is a movie that relies on audio only. Or in other words, a drama CD that you listen to at the cinema. It uses the dummy head mic, so you need to 'watch' the movie while wearing headphones.

The story is about a girl named Aoi, who loses her sight due to the shock of seeing her lover die before her eyes. After that she is helped several friend and doctors, voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi, Ono Daisuke, Nojima Kenji, Okamoto Nobuhiko, and Morikawa Toshiyuki. The character voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi has a voice that is very similar to the voice of her late boyfriend, which of course confuses the (blind) Aoi.

Judging from the trailer, the contents are similar to a normal drama CD, but with much more heartbreak and bitter sweets moments.

Hikari was shown in different cinemas during the last year, and a DVD will be released on 2012.11.17. The DVD will have all sorts of extra contents: A new (short) story called "For Aoi", making of, cast talk, audio commentary by Ono Daisuke, the director, sound staff, and producer, and a soundtrack CD.

The trailer really got me interested, not to mention that I am curious about the entire concept. There is a press conference video on the official site, and it sounded like there are some sort of visuals for at least part of the movie. Which makes me all the more curious. The press conference also has a brilliant moment where Ono-san had to read a message from Morikawa Toshiyuki because the latter couldn't attend the press conference (the rest of the video is far more serious).

  1. Ah... About Hikari, I tend to avoid serious things but the concept and cast list seem too good to pass over. 1:33 caught my eyes though, what's sengoku basara have to do with this lmao /can't proper read yet ; v ;. Btw Alice I was wondering if you had any recommendations like the Healing Stone drama cd's with MikiShin, etc. Something based around the concept of relaxation and comfort? Thanks again for all your hard work ^o^/

    1. The sound director (Iwanami Yoshikazu) worked on Sengoku Basara as well, that it why it was mentioned.

relaxation... amemakura and Inoue Kazuhiko no Iyashi Kou are the only things that come to mind right now. Maybe Sleep x2 as well, but the sound of someone sleeping next to me had the opposite effect on me (^-^;;)

    2. Ah I just tried the Sleepx2 CD's yesterday. The wave/ocean sounds are probably the only thing calming about them, but even then it doesn't help take your mind off the fact that, like you mentioned, someone's sleeping next to you xD. I'll try amemakura next, and Inoue Kazuhiko's one I actually tried a while back as one of the first reviews I'd read from you :D thanks very much! x

  2. Woah, Hikari sounds very interesting! I wonder, if fans outside of Japan can get a copy of the DVD too? The trailer makes me want to watch/listen to the whole story. I love serious, tragic and sad stories a lot, so please let me buy it. LOL

Thanks for news post, as always! :D

    1. I really want too. So far I've only seen it listed at the animate site, but I plan on searching for it as soon as it is released.
